A Little About This Song…

You may recognize the melody to Red Is The Rose; it’s nearly identical to the Scottish folk classic, “Loch Lomond: You Take The High Road.” The Irish version claims to be the elder tune, but both appear to have been written in the mid 1800s. The Irish lyrics (Liam Clancy uses the ones printed here) are words of grief; its message reminds us that we’ll never never forget our one and only true love.
