A Little About This Song…

There’s a game with this one. Here’s what the kids can do…

Verse 1: You’ll need at least seven participants; if you have less than seven, just
tell the kids they can be chosen more than once. All kids form a circle.
One child is selected to be the “farmer”. The “farmer” stands in the
center. All the other kids should march to the music as they hold hands
and walk around in a circle.

Verse 2: As the first verse is sung, the “farmer” stands in the center; he must
choose a “wife” at the end of the second verse. He should pull that
person into the circle with him.

Verse 3: The “wife” now pulls a “child” from the circling children.

Verse 4-7: The “child” will then select a “dog”, the “dog a “cat”, the “cat” a
“rat”, the “rat” a “cheese” as those verses are sung.

Verse 8: All the kids in the center rejoin the circle except the “cheese”.
