A Little About This Song…

Clare Herbert Woolston, a preacher from Chicago Illinois, wrote the words to Jesus Loves the Little Children in the late 1800s. Those lyrics were set to music by composer George F. Root to the tune from “Tramp, Tramp, Tramp (We Go A-Marching)”, a song sung by foot soldiers during the Civil War.

Many children are taught the chorus in their pre-school years and most never hear the whole song. Some are taught a second chorus, “Jesus died for all the children”.

A Related Bible Verse…

Matthew 18:3

And He said, “Verily I say unto you, except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.”
