A Little About This Song…

Jefferson Hascall, born in Thompson, Connecticut, in 1807, wrote the poem “My Latest Sun Is Sinking Fast” somewhere around 1860.  The words became attached to a melody by William Batchelder Bradbury, and in 1862  Angel Band was born (also known as “The Land Of Beulah”). The song became immensely popular during the folk revival of the 1960s as “O Come, Angel Band” or simply “Angel Band”, and is still frequently heard at bluegrass jams and church gatherings everywhere. A GREAT song for harmony.

Most singers stick to the same melody and lyrics expect in one place in the chorus – some singers use “snowy wings” and others use “snow white wings”.

A Related Bible Verse…

Genesis 28:12

And he dreamed and behold a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold the angels of God ascending and descending on it.
