A Little About This Song…

Also sung as the Itsy Bitsy Spider, this is an anonymously written children’s song and nursery rhyme dating from the late 1800’s. It’s considered a “finger-play” tune where the singer acts out the song with her hands and fingertips, demonstrating the spider climbing up the spout in line one, the wash of the rain in line two, the sun coming out in line three, and the spider climbing the spout once again in line four. It’s the first song most children learn to sing.
