A Little About This Song…

The title “Come All Ye Fair And Tender Ladies” (or “Maidens”) has only been regularly used since the 1960s. Prior to that, the song was more commonly known as “Little Sparrow”. The tune qualifies as one of the most well-known songs in Traditional Music today, having been recorded by scores of contemporary artists including the Grasscals, Emmylou Harris and The Carter Family.

There are two clearly defined versions of this song around, one that feels like it might have Celtic origin, the other like it came from the mountains. Our arrangement is the simpler of the two.
